One of the finest Elizabethan halls in the country, Middle Temple Hall’s original oak roof and stained glass windows have provided the backdrop for a number of famous period films. It’s easy to see why, as the building (on a site originally owned by the Knights Templar) is simply brimming with historical significance. The 32-person Bench Table in the Hall, which is made from 29ft planks of a single oak tree, is believed to be a gift from Elizabeth I, floated down the Thames from Windsor Forest. The main hall with its intricately carved panelling is a treat for winter events, while the venue’s award-winning garden is a lovely spot for receptions. The location is good for the City and West End.
