There’s a smart, old-school feel to this South Kensington members’ club, popular with floppy-haired locals and the young Royals. The venue comprises two moodily lit bars and a fine-dining restaurant, which transforms into a dance floor after dinner. The latter is decorated in a polished British colonial style – think oak panels, Chesterfield banquettes and plenty of art – accommodating up to 100 diners or 300 reception guests on an exclusive-use basis. Smaller groups can book the VIP area, which takes 30 for a sit-down meal or 80 for a drinks party. There is live music every Thursday and The Brompton Club also takes food and drink seriously. We loved the pre-dinner cocktail trolley.
