Venue Review of St George's Hall

The main event spaces in the neoclassical, Grade I-listed St George’s Hall include the Great Hall with its 7,000-pipe, fully functioning organ and magnificent tunnel-vaulted ceiling. The largest of its kind in Europe, this ceiling is supported by massive red granite columns, with figures portraying qualities that Victorian Liverpool aspired to: art, science, fortitude and justice. It can accommodate up to 800 theatre-style meeting delegates or 600 dinner guests. The Concert Hall with its excellent acoustics was described as ‘the most perfect room in the world’ by Charles Dickens, who gave many readings there. It is equipped with a built-in stage and original crystal chandelier. Meanwhile, the North Entrance Hall can be used for an arrival drinks reception or as a registration area, while the Cockerell, Elms and Reid Rooms are adjacent to the Great Hall and have views out across St George’s Gardens.
