Located in the heart of Cambridge, the two Michelin-starred Midsummer House occupies a handsome Victorian villa in a picturesque spot beside the River Cam. The entertaining space at Midsummer is spread across two floors. A ground-floor dining room holds up to 44 & is set partly within the walls of the Old House & partly inside the Conservatory. Every table overlooks Midsummer Common or the chef’s herb garden, which surrounds the Conservatory. On the first floor, a private dining room can accommodate 16 & has plasma screens streaming live action from the kitchen, while the adjacent River Room lounge & outside terrace sit high above the Cam. Daniel Clifford’s French Mediterranean cooking has a loyal following. Menus range from excellent-value set-lunches to 12-course extravanganzas. In summer months, pre-dinner drinks can be taken in the garden.
