The essence of Switzerland distilled into one place, Lucerne is a thriving lakeside city with a vibrant cultural scene and no end of attractions (it was voted fifth most popular tourist destination in the world in 2010 by TripAdvisor). Zürich, with its busy airport, is just an hour or so away on Switzerland’s famously reliable train system, so delegates from across Europe can reach the city easily. Lucerne’s Convention Bureau is well used to assisting event planners in organising anything from small meetings to major conferences. Teambuilding and activity opportunities abound in both summer and winter, and there’s no shortage of venues, from small and intimate right up to the 5,000 capacity Exhibition Centre (currently having a facelift, but still open for business). However, Lucerne’s jewel-in-the-crown has to be the iconic Culture and Convention Centre (KKL Luzern) by French ‘starchitect’ Jean Nouvel.
