Based in Farringdon, The Postal Museum is a semi-subterranean venue with a rich history. You wouldn’t know it when walking the streets, but hidden underneath is the Post Office’s secret 100-year-old railway, designed for ferrying mail between London’s different sorting offices. In 2017 these tunnels opened to the public for the first time and now, alongside The Postal Museum, both are available to hire for all sorts of private and corporate events.
Up top, the contemporary museum, with its private courtyard, is especially suited to summer parties and networking events. This bright, modern space is very flexible, and can be set up in a variety of formats for anything from standing drinks receptions to gala dinners or seminars, with capacity for 120 standing or 60 seated guests (or up to 100 for a theatre-style event). You’ll also find a meeting room on the second floor of the museum that’s available for private hire, and it can be set up with seating for up to 60 guests in a theatre-style layout.
Meanwhile, the Mail Rail is a large blank-canvas space with vaulted arches and capacity for up to 275 for a standing reception, or 150 seated guests. This main space was once a depot for the mail railway, and the venue still has access to the railway itself, complete with specially-made passenger trains to shuttle guests - up to 20 at a time - underneath the streets of London. Trains are available to hire exclusively for three hours at a time, and there are multiple tour packages available, including a more in-depth curator-led tour for history buffs.
