A landmark in the historic centre of Cambridge, St John’s is among the university’s most storied colleges. Its much-photographed Bridge of Sighs spans the river Cam and amid some handsome gardens
you’ll find the 16th-century College Hall, where there's room for 300, whether they’re sitting down for dinner or standing for a finger buffet. The Wordsworth Room – named for the poet who lived
there as undergraduate in the 1780s – can do dinner for 20-50 and receptions for slightly more. The Fisher Building, purpose built for conferences, meetings and corporate events, houses an
auditorium for 250, a trio of seminar rooms for up to 50 and an array of smaller meeting spaces. With the students out of the way in the summer months, St John’s offers beds and breakfast to up to
250 guests. All of this – and London is but an hour away by train.
