About St Bride Foundation

Est. in 1891, the St Bride Foundation is a stunning Grade II listed red brick building in the heart of London. Tucked away on a courtyard just off Fleet Street, this unique building is nestled under a plane tree and Wren’s famous ‘wedding cake’ spire of St Bride’s Church.

The building exudes historical intrigue. Originally built as a printing school, the London College of Printing (now LCC) was established here. The Foundation was also a resource for local residents, the city’s first public swimming baths and laundry opened here.

Today the Foundation is home to a thriving artistic community and houses what is probably the world’s largest library of printing, typography and graphic design. Traditional printing, engraving and bookbinding techniques are taught in our workshop. The whole area is steeped in literary history with notable residents including Charles Dickens and Dr. Samuel Johnson.
