If ‘something unusual’ features highly on your list of priorities then this manmade island in the Solent, a mile or so north of the Isle of Wight, certainly ticks the box. Built in the 1870s, this
extraordinary former military post is now a fully renovated venue, offering event bookers the chance to organise meetings, teambuilding activities or a special dining event. We like the idea of
hiring the fort exclusively for up to 60 people and combining a conference with a three-course lunch in the venue’s restaurant, The Officer’s Mess. Sailing packages are available for active groups,
or if you’re keen to stay put at the venue, guests can try their hand at catching some Solent mackerel and sea bass. If avoiding the ocean spray is more to your liking, then a wine tasting – with
an expert – followed by dinner might be more suitable. Transfers from the company’s departure lounge are all part of the package.
