If you're looking for a stand-out venue in Birmingham city centre, how about the Council House itself? Indeed, while you might not have thought that this Grade II listed building was up for grabs, there are a plethora of spaces inside which can be hired out for any kind of event - from weddings to brand launches.
As expected, all spaces throughout are seriously stunning. They were designed by architect H. R. Yeoville Thomason in 1874 to look like a Venetian palace built in classical Renaissance style, showcasing everything from glittering chandeliers and vaulted roofs, to ornate plasterwork. As well as all its glamour, this building boasts brilliant transport links, sitting in the heart of the city centre and just 300 metres from the main train station.
Inside, there are two main rooms which can be hired out, although some of these can be divided up. Starting with the Banqueting Suite, this space can hold in total 450 guests for drinks and nibbles, or 350 guests for dinner when combined with The Drawing Room and Reception Area. The combined floor space is huge and with lofty ceilings and towering arches, it's quite the spectacle, but you can speak to the team about sectioning off a smaller area if you'd like.
If looking for a more intimate place to host a special dinner or drinks, the Chamberlain Room features coral walls, pastel pink ceiling and pale green carpet for a pretty feel. There's a central table which can host 40 guests when dining, or 50 for canapes.
All catering is provided in house, but if there is a special reason why you would like to work with outside caterers, you can let the team know and they'll do their best to help. Almost anything you might want is available to order from the chef team, from three course meals and canapes, to BBQs and finger buffets.
