Thought this restaurant would be a great idea to break up a visit to the wonderful Wallace Collection. There is so much there to see that it is difficult to take it in without a break. The situation is lovely, in the light-well of the building and it looks nice and feels airy. However as a restaurant I'm afraid it just does not work.
Having been given our menus with no comment it was incredibly frustrating to be told on ordering that so-and-so main course was off. Why not tell us when handing out the menus? Then to compound the issue the bottle of wine we ordered was also off! Mind you, when we did get a bottle it was parked in its ice bucket yards away from the table so we had to chase the waiters when our glasses were empty.
The food was – well small! Tasted and looked good but just felt seriously poor value for money. My Italian friends were impressed with the coffee which really did not make up for the rest of the meal. With about 40 restaurants within a 5 minute walk there really is no reason to go to the Wallace for lunch – even if visiting the Collection

I look for places that are a little bit different for business lunches. McQueen's fit the bill – interesting decor, comfortable seating and felt very private. The menu and wine list are relatively small but have a full range of interesting items at reasonable prices – the Rib Eye was fabulous! Service was good and friendly. Definitely recommend the place and it looks like it would be awesome in the evenings too.

Staff friendly and efficient. Food tasty. Good selection of vegetarian meals.

Team evening planned, booked but cancelled three times due to problems with team absences, but Jamies have such good communication I was able to let them know with my apologies and re booked, which happened again. BUT, we finally had our team evening drinks/ nibbles the other evening and was amazing.

To start with I can only but be amazed by the communication with Jamies, they were very quick to respond (mostly on the same day) and also made me feel very welcome and knowledgeable about what was on offer. Jamies supplied me with full information about their happy hour and their “Party Platters”, which was full in depth explaining what each platter would contain (which was great for certain food choice eg Veggie/allergies). In the end, we went for the Jamies Club platter which was mixed sandwiches, (seemed the best to accommodate 20 different people). They then went on to inform me that this platter will be complimentary as we are a group greater than 10, this was a real bonus.

Once at Jamies, we ordered a few more sharing plates/nibbles for the team to share, which really went down well and were very tasty. Taking a good amount of time to prepare and present, really spread the evening out, but quick enough for when people were peckish. Both of which catered for Veggie and normal foods.

The team complemented me on the booking, as even though Jamies can be a busy place, we were all able to chat and have our own space. I am very pleased with the evening, Amazing value for Money!

I really enjoyed myself with divine food.. but I do agree with that the service isn’t the best. I found the evening to be rather slow and a bit tedious, but rewarding in the end. As the food was really tasty! Overall I was happy with the evening out, I had a lovely catch up with a friend, and enjoyed great food in a nice set atmosphere.

Though my bank card would say a completely different story! I ended up paying a lot more than expected, due to the waiting around between ordering & courses, which resulted in more drink being bought, to share to pass some time whilst chit chatting.

This how ever could have been a technical fault with kitchens/under staffed, or was it a tactical fault so my bill was higher? I’d like to hope not.. but in this day and age who knows!

I would like to re visit for another special evening, but only if I knew the service had been checked over/improved.

My wife and I went there for an early dinner on a recent Friday night. It was our first visit. We had come across this on the internet and thought it sounded well worth a visit. After a drink in the bar we went through to the restaurant and ordered:

Tandoori breast of Anjou squab pigeon with smoked paprika raita, spiced pigeon
Roast loin of wild Cumbrian red deer with sautéed potatoes, rock moss and onion sauce
Masala mashed potatoes
Potato stuffed paratha
Saffron ice cream
Passion fruit tart with black currant sorbet, fennel crisp

Red Wine Shiraz, Sula, Nashik

We honestly couldn't fault anything. The service was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was brilliant.

We not only plan to go back again but we want to try their sister restaurants. Well done.

After having booked for a night there, we arrived half hour befor our friends. an ordered drinks. they don't come cheap there. and the quality was nothing but average . paying the high prices for an average cocktail that wasn't even made properly was a bit dissopointing. after the dinner which seemed kind of poor quality again one have to questin why pay soo much for such an less than average food that even taste like what it was supposed to be.to top that they had the worst dj I ever heard, ( I work in th music industry) it really was looking like a place the tries to look cool but with very little done right to do so. after an hour of the horrible music which sounded like my vacuum cleaner we decided to leave for a better place.boy we were right to do so.
it seems prince harry is the owners friend and allways pop in when he opens the place for free advertisement for him. lo anyway me and my friends didn't like it and want recoomend to it to others!
forgot to tell at the door on of our friends wasn't let in(he came later than us). no he is a lawer with his own firm who does pretty well, he told us he was shocked at how rude the bouncer was…

Whilst browsing the menu, an amuse bouche was presented. This was a demi tasse of celery soup, with almond and goats cheese garnish, (I couldn’t detect the almond) it was hot and tasty.
With the set lunch menu offering two choices for each course, we opted to have “one of each”, to cover all the options. (full a la carte is also available)
We were soon shown to our table where a bottle of chilled tap water was on the table, and one of each white & brown warmed bread rolls. These were a touch salty (though it could have been the butter but I don’t think so). Having swiftly devoured these between us, we were offered more bread when the starters arrived, which we duly accepted.
The mackerel fillet was crisp skinned, the finely cut ratatouille had a nice hint of spice, the courgette puree a touch of mint, for overall a nice combination. The terrine was well pressed and seasoned, and with the crisp shards of bacon and peas three ways (puree, whole peas and pea shoots) a sweet contrast.
For the main dishes, the coley was from a large fillet, with the flakes having just that hint of translucence, showing perfect cooking, the mussels plump and moist, and the lettuce still having texture although “creamed”. One minor complaint here. The sauce was a little thin, so although delicious, it would have to be left in the bowl. So a spoon had to be called for, to enjoy the luscious broth. (another table near us had to do the same – so you would hope they take the hint!)
Four large cubes of belly pork graced the other plate and this was very tasty and nicely seasoned. The crackling thin and crispy, an apple julienne for contrast and wilted baby gem lettuce leaves refreshing. Not sure where the “parsley” mentioned on the menu was, and the “boulangere” potatoes seemed to be randomly shaped small chunks cooked in stock, slightly firm but flavoursome none the less. The white onion puree needed “something”? to make it more part of the dish than “just a puree”.
Dessert of a raspberry and vanilla pavlova was a deconstructed dish. The raspberry in the form of fresh, dried, coulis and sorbet, the cream in two lightly set cubes, with vanilla seeds evident in them. The meringue in the form of sticks. Sometimes such as this can be too sweet, but the sharpness was contrasted well with the sugar of the meringue and cream.
The other “dessert” taken was a cheeseboard, after they had first tried to serve the “other” lemon dessert until my brother pointed out he had asked for the cheese (another mark gone for service!)
Three types of cheese, quince jelly, assorted crackers and a homemade chutney. Nothing wrong with that once it arrived.
A coke and a coffee were the drinks, and petit fours served too. A nice touch, but the “garden mint” chocolate was a little strange taste.
Overall an excellent meal, with a couple of minor faults, although the service could have been a little speedier, given the small number of other diners, I wonder how it would transpire if the place was full? A bill for £56 was well acceptable (coke £2, coffee & petit fours £4) for 1* Michelin lunch.

Absolutley another fine eating establishment not far from the A170, well worth a visit.

We arrived at the open at 5.30pm and being such a large place it took a little while to fill up, but the service was excellent – friendly waitress with good advice on options and her favourites. Loved every single dish, particularly the Blackened Butterfish. Have booked a return trip already!

Welcome great, service good, food quick, tasty, great value, wines okay, not exceptional, atmosphere pretty cool, a light, attractive place. But finding it? Dreadful. Perhaps Southbank's management's at fault but the signage to Benugo from the pedestrian riverside walk is dreadful – no, it's simply missing. The RFH and BFI etc are a nightmare to negotiate anyway – multi level, messy signs, ads and tatty decorations – but what a pity to add to the bad experience by hiding a nice place like Benugo.
