Our coats were taken and we were seated very politely and with excellent attention. I was very hopeful.
However immediately following being seated we received a sort of “warning” without any smiles, that the pasta and rice would be al dente and not well cooked; this incorrectly categorised us as inexperienced consumers of Italian cuisine and did not get the entire meal off to the best possible start !
Starters were OK but mostly bland. Pasta/mains we ordered (4 different) were simple and very bland and pasta/rissoto portions were really too small. Waitress queried with a “do you know what you are eating” tone the use of parmesan on a pasta/fish dish. Ice creams were tasteless. Coffee tasteless and weak.
Over all more like an english meal of 1960 rather than the upmarket Italian I was expecting. After the starters there was a fair amount of derbris centre table but it was not cleared and instead our cutlery was placed between it. More than anything I am disappointed that this restaurant was highly rated on several sites. Did those people ever eat there I wonder, not recently I would guess?
