I was meant to visit the weekend this first opened but unfortunately they didn't! We were advised that there was a power failure and the restaurant wouldn't be open in time for our reservation. After some negotiation we secured a table for lunch on the late May bank holiday and a discount on our total bill + a glass of champagne each
I was concerned as to whether this would be as good as its hype – its restaurant pedigree certainly suggests it should be good and fortunately it was! The ambience, views and food all lived up to expectations.
Would thorough recommend the Lamb cutlets with Harissa – they were so tender and full of flavour. The baked cauliflower was delicious, steaks really well cooked and the tiger prawn main beautifully prepared. The only disappointment was dessert. I have a nut allergy so ordered one of the desserts (Yoghurt cake) that didn't profess to contain nuts… until it arrived and it was covered in pistachos! It was promptly removed (and all the parties dessert costs removed from the menu) but when I asked why the menu didn't say it had nuts I was told that the waiting staff are to advise diners of what dishes contain nuts. Great I suppose if you ask or if they volunteer but as neither happened, I was left disappointed that the dish I had chosen I couldn't eat.
I would definitely go back. The day time buffet lunch being served in the bar when I arrived looked fantastic and great value at £25 per head. Cocktail menu also deserves another visit
