We ate crab with asparagus, fritto misto, rack of lamb with kidney and sweetbreads, veal chop, roast potatoes, sautéed spinach. A basket of breads was brought to the table. The cooking was faultless and portions were generous.
We drank two glasses of white, two-thirds of a bottle of Primitivo ‘Fatalone’ from Puglia and a bottle of mineral water. The Primitivo was 15% alcohol and made me wonder yet again – both at the time and next morning – why restaurants don’t list ABV’s on their wine list.
The airy, glass-walled room, on a Saturday night, was two-third full. Music, of the club-lite genre, was not obtrusive. Service was excellent. We were walking out 90 minutes after we sat down.
The bill was £198.
