Decided on Hutong for a friend's birthday as both Aquashard and Oblix fully booked. Arrived for 2.30pm reservation to be told that had to order quickly as the kitchen was about to close – off-putting given the 3 menus to wade through. Could not understand why, given a 2:30 reservation were being told we had to then rush to order! Isolated on out of the way corner table.
Chef arrived with half-roast duck, cut a few slices and removed the rest, even though half-duck had been ordered and was paid for. Remainder of food, while tasty, was lukewarm.
No ambience and the whole restaurant seemed lifeless and dead. Compared to the lively, buzzing atmosphere of both Aquashard and Oblix that we looked round afterwards I now understand why booking was readily available at Hutong. Would definitely not recommend and will not be going again.
