At this upmarket tapas kitchen, nothing here will rock your world but you can expect solid execution in the food. Our tortilla arrived whole, golden in colour, looking delicious, and had a perfect texture: the ideal balance between potato and egg. Cod brandade was paired with a soft-boiled egg on a chunk of sourdough made gooey by the yolk. A pile of deep fried courgette slivers was given some zing with a lemony dressing. However piquillo peppers turned up on three out of six tapas which seemed careless.
Service, though pleasant, was a series of minor mis-steps. For instance, given the nature of the restaurant, you’d think they’d have worked out a way by now to serve multiple dishes without needing to balance plates on other bits of furniture.
Prices are tipped towards the higher end, which isn’t out of order given such a classy venue, but the lunch deal certainly softens the blow: £8 off for every three tapas ordered. No complaints with £67 for seven plates, two glasses of wine, coffees and service.
