I have dined at Duck and Waffle twice and was so glad to see it lived up to the hype. The glass lift delivered breath taking views to the top of the Heron Tower and the drama of it just adds to the anticipation. The bar area is speckled with trendy tiles and odd chandeliers scatter the ceiling. One disappointment on arrival was the toffee-nosed welcome but the waiter’s in the main dining room did make up for it. The restaurant has such an air of coolness to it, I lingered as I walked past the open kitchen catching the aromas of what was about to come. I have to mention the incredible views again as the glass windows present nearly the whole of London.
I ordered bacon wrapped dates, pig ears and raw tuna to start followed by the signature duck and waffle and oxtail donuts (yes I have a big appetite) and I realised that it wasn’t just the glass lift that brings you closer to heaven. The combination of ingredients were inventive and worked so well together. I have been to restaurants with odd combinations before and have come away feeling rather puzzled but I left here feeling spritely, gratified and eager to make another booking.
I have to add the experience was heightened by sitting only a couple of tables away from the Fresh Prince, Will Smith.
