I booked this for my wife and I (Sushi Samba was fully booked and we fancied something similar).
I saw all the reviews here and Grace Dent's in the Evening Standard and was a bit concerned how bad it might be. The reality was, thankfully, much better.
The food was very good (albeit not quite to the standards of Sushi Samba) and the mix of South American and Japanese cuisine works better than you might expect. We were tempted by the tasting menu but chose a fairly random 10 dishes in the end – the sushi and sashimi was very good, the meatier dishes also very good (I loved the pork belly).
Slightly too noisy – perhaps aimed more at 20-somethings rather than 40-somethings – but not oppressively so.
It did feel a little overpriced – we came away having spent £200 as a couple and we didn't go crazy with the wine list. The set menu is £60 per head, add on cocktails to start, a bottle of wine, and service and you can see how you can quickly get to £200 for a couple.
The service, which seems to have been much of the focus of the other reviews, was okay. It was a bit amatuerish at times with more youth than experience. But it was very friendly and polite with a decent amount of enthusiasm and we were both happy with it. This isn't to say that the other reviewers didn't have a bad experience – just balancing it out with a better one. We did have a mistake where a glass of Sauterne my wife ordered with pudding turned up as Sancerre – she had a couple of sips and it clearly didn't look, smell or taste right – but the waitress immediately agreed and replaced it with the Sauterne ordered with no fuss.
The manager Sam was very visible and clearly wanted us to have a good meal. He succeeded and I would be happy to go again.
