Went for mid-week dinner with my wife. Turned up early as all the other bars in the area were packed, greeted by a very friendly team who took our bags and coats, and we settled into the restaurant bar for some fizz. The bar staff were similarly friendly.
The dining room is lovely, and though surprisingly large and busy, with glass doors to the kitchen, and music playing, it never felt too loud or crowded. There are lots of tables for larger groups in the middle of the room, and the tables for two were sufficiently well spaced out around the walls.
Service was generally as you would expect, and they were quick to bring bread and take our order. The starters arrived before the sommelier, so we had to ask for him, but otherwise it all ran smoothly.
The wine list is lengthy enough to cater for most tastes and budgets without being over the top, and there were plenty of bottles that were tempting. Went for a Bourgogne aligote at £42.
The menu takes a similar approach by trying to have something for everyone, with a good choice of veggie, fish and meat dishes. For starters I chose a very tasty soup with snails, served with a toasted sandwich with more snails and cheese, and my wife had the scallops ceviche. Mine was a little salty, but not overpoweringly so, so that is probably just personal taste. Excellent scallops.
We both chose a fish dish for the main course and they were both very good, perfectly cooked and well seasoned.
Neither of us could manage a dessert so can't comment there.
On the way out we had to ask for our coats at the waiter station, but they were brought quickly. As we left we noticed people were queuing to get into the hotel lobby bar so worth getting there early if you want a seat.
Overall it was a very enjoyable evening and we are very likely to go back.
