I dine out frequently in London now I'm retired and have more time to myself! I was very much looking forward to Aqua shard and it didn't disappoint. Obviously you go for the view and what a view it is, practically every London landmark you could hope to see is there in full view. Particularly funny are the trains at London Bridge which look like dinky toys from that height! There is a three story window at the front as you enter which is vast and impressive. We had a drink at the bar first and the staff were a delight, friendly, smiling faces and knowledgeable about the (delicious) cocktails which is sadly not a regular occurrence these days, but they have the right people here. We sat on the ‘Gin wing’ this side which is attractive and comfortable, lovely purple chairs and we had a table of two by the window. There are some attractive banquettes as well for larger tables. I very much enjoyed the food, it;s nice to see British food done well, we had the raw cut beef starter which came with a delicious ‘scotch egg’ which was made from salmon instead of sausage meat and the seabass which was very pretty and light. For mains we had a lovely Dover sole which had ham and peas in the frothy sauce, my husband who loves fish and always orders it really enjoyed the flavours. I had the ribeye which was cooked to perfection and we also particularly loved the rather naughty mash potato which had beef jus and butter. We sadly didn't have room for desserts on this visit, but we saw some come out which looked lovely, a reason to go back, which I'm sure we will!
