We have eaten at the Angelus four times now so we do like the place. But this was the first time that we had reservations about the food. On the plus side: The wood pigeon (a last minute stand-in for the grouse which was not available on the night) was excellent: the breast part of the dish was spot on – pink and soft and the pie part was as rich and gamey as you like. But the poached cod seemed undercooked. Undercooking fish seems to be a bit of a fad these days but it is not to everyone's taste. Maybe waiting staff could advise clients if the chef serves cod more sashimi-style? Good wine list with wines to suit all pockets. I was glad to see that the place was pretty full for a Monday night. It gave it a lively atmosphere and also meant that the closeness of the tables was not a problem. We won't let this visit deter us.
