Square Meal Review of The White Hart ?

Burning fires, old farm-auction posters & deep-red carpets give the White Hart a cosy, pubby feel, but with a big fat slice of class that spills over into its 12 uniquely furnished bedrooms. Food is a major draw, with the same menu available in the brasserie & the more formal, contemporary restaurant. Smoked haddock with a Scotch egg, char-grilled chorizo, roast garlic & parsley mayonnaise is a good way to start, before tackling a rich & tasty dish of pork fillet Wellington with dauphinoise potatoes & fine beans in a mustard jus or a grilled Lakeland venison sausage with creamed mash & caramelised onion gravy laced with JW Lees beer. Desserts are in the sticky toffee pudding mould, & the selection of British cheeses also hits the spot.
