Wow, what a great place. Beautiful restaurent, a fantastic place to eat and set in the most amazing surroundings. It's everything you might want, country pub come gastro experience. It can all be found at the end of a little windy road which to be honest i thought would lead into someones back garden and after a few wrong turns the drive was well worth it. The menu has something for everyone and you certainly get what you pay for, fresh, good quality, locally sourced ingredients. Loved the hand finished touches like the special soap and little hand towels in the loo. The staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Would certainly recommend.
We found this restaurant by accident whilst having a day out in Wales. We were looking for somewhere to have a pub lunch, but hadn't come across anywhere we fancied when we saw a sign to The Boat, down a small side road. It was a very narrow windy road, but there were signs at the junctions so we persevered. We are very glad we did; what a fantastic site for a pub/restaurant, right by the river. The eating out tables were clean and well kept and the whole of the outside area was full of flowers, very pretty. As it was a little cool we decided to eat in the light, airy conservatory dining room, where the tables were thoughtfully spaced out . We opted for the table d‘hote meal, which was two courses and a bottle of wine for £27.50 per couple. The menu was dated, with 4 choices of starter and around the same number of mains. Both of us chose the Greek salad followed by roast chicken breast with leeks and new potatoes with shallot and blue cheese gratin. The food was nicely served and delicious, with generous portions. We were also offered a “pub classics” menu along with a third menu of sandwiches. The staff were friendly and helpful, if perhaps a little inexperienced. The only downside was the toilets, but I beleive that they are being upgraded at the moment. All in all a lovely spot and well worth a visit. We will definitley be back.
