Square Meal review of Earsham Street Cafe:
Every town should have one. A well-trodden path leads to this super neighbourhood cafe-cum-brasserie-cum-teashop, although these days Earsham Street Cafe is more scallops than scones. A welcoming pit stop at anytime of the day, it comes alive at midday when it’s packed with happy regulars trying unsuccessfully to keep it their little secret. Mediterranean warmth flavours the appetising hard-to-choose-from menu, but there’s also a smattering of reworked British favourites and the odd taste of the orient. The likes of warm sticky pork belly and mango, cherry tomato and spring onion salad or chicken liver parfait with onion marmalade are stalwart choices, followed by archetypal calf’s liver & bacon with bubble and squeak, duck confit or excellent local fish. Simple hearty puds to finish (try the baked ginger cheesecake with poached pears if it's on) & a wallet friendly inspiring wine list to wash it all down are further pluses. Earsham Street Cafe is open for dinner on the last Friday and Saturday of the month from 6.30-9.30pm.
