If you’re looking for some seriously good seafood in Glasgow, then Two Fat Ladies is as good a place as any to satisfy your cravings. The food is splendid & the whole set-up is unpretentious, friendly & terrific value for money; there’s also an open kitchen at the front of the restaurant, so you can watch all the action. The pre/post-theatre menu offers plenty of choice, though cruising through the carte also pays dividends: you might savour Cullen skink, smoked mackerel pâté or grilled pilchards with dill & gherkin mayonnaise, before tackling main courses of oatmeal-crusted whole lemon sole with lemon & caper butter or sea bass with Arbroath smokie cakes & mornay sauce. Meat fans might go for fillet of Scotch beef with pickled red cabbage & red wine jus, while desserts could yield traditional cranachan or toasted almond, ‘drunken cherry’ & pistachio ice cream roulade.
