A relaxed haunt as suited to romance as to business, the Lime Tree has scores of fans, both for it’s weekly changing modern British food & its unstuffy but efficient service. A typical meal might open with caramelized onion & goat’s cheese tartlet, go on to breast of mallard duck & venison loin served with root vegetable mash, balsamic beetroot, red cabbage & port jus or sirloin, beef au poivre with fat chips, or never off the menu crispy duck, & finish with sticky toffee pudding & hot toffee sauce. There’s a good value lunch & early evening set deal (£15.95 for 3 courses) & a popular traditional Sunday lunch – sirloin of beef with Yorkshire pud, roast leg of lamb & bangers & mash.
