It may be more ‘gastro’ than ‘pub’ these days at this Pennine eatery, but you can still enjoy proper hand-pulled local ales in the bar. Clinging to the hillside, with fantastic views over the Ryburn Valley, Millbank’s re-worked interior comes fashionably stripped back & unbuttoned, with the dining room – the hub of the operation – all easy-on-the-eye blond-wood floors, low ceilings, & modern artwork. Glen Futter’s cooking is defined by spot-on technique & clear flavours, & his crowd-pleasing repertoire of seasonal dishes hits just the right note with the likes of sea bass fillet partnered by roast scallop, mushroom cannelloni & celeriac puree. Likewise, British classics may be as straightforward as ham & mushroom pie with mash or as contemporary as braised shoulder of Yorkshire lamb accompanied by a chickpea shepherd’s pie, chorizo & black olives.
