Bruerne's Lock Restaurant

Located by top lock of the Grand Union Canal in a village once mentioned in the Doomsday Book, this Georgian brick house served as post office, surgery and general store before it settled in its current guise. Formal and smart with a fine view of the waterways, the dining room features nicely set tables with generous space for business. Menus change weekly and may offer the likes of Moroccan roast chicken with cermoula, chili and cardamom or honey-glazed saddle of lamb with thyme. A twice-baked bitter chocolate souffle with milk chocolate lattice tempts for dessert, whilst a set lunch menu gives several options, including beef stroganoff or chicken breast wrapped in bacon with sage.
