Square Meal Review of Isle of Eriska Hotel ?

Occupying a dreamy Victorian manse standing proud on its own private island, Eriska ticks all the boxes: heart stopping scenery; a hidey-hole location amidst glorious lochs and Highlands; languid indulgences. It’s like a house party hosted by charming owners, within a backdrop of baronial comforts lit by log fires. Chef Ross Stovold came here from Michelin-starred Restaurant Alimentum in Cambridge, and his food is driven by the Scottish larder – although flavours are never parochial. Dinner is a daily fixed-price menu that might open with a shot of cauliflower espuma, ahead of beef tartare with pickled shallots, horseradish mousse and onion ash. Next, perhaps turbot with fennel broth, kale and chicken skin, followed by vanilla-poached pear with granola and whipped custard. The mighty ‘chariot’ of farmhouse cheeses is a wonder to behold, and there are plenty of vintage wines and serious malts too
