Square Meal Review of Port of Siam ?

This tiny Thai restaurant by Newhaven Harbour made its name with spanking fresh seafood procured from highly regarded local fishmonger Welch’s, and many of its best dishes still reflect that hook-up. Top calls range from flambéed king scallops with a fragrant salad, spinach and samphire to steamed hake with lime and chilli dressing, but the kitchen also excels at meaty stir-fries, curries (try the osso bucco massaman) and specials such as crying tiger (spiced marinated pork loin with Thai aromatics and mint leaves). You can also go down the tapas route by ordering various grazing dishes to share – perhaps steamed mussels with lemongrass, garlicky pan-fried quail with som tum salad or venison skewers with tamarind sauce. If the place is fully booked – which is often – you could try its larger sibling at 1 Barony Street in the New Town.
