Square Meal Review of The Adamson ?

A blue plaque tells visitors that this building was once home to Victorian physician and pioneering photographer Dr John Adamson; later on, it did duty as St Andrews’ post office and has now taken on a new persona as a family-run all-day venue tricked out with wooden floors and exposed brickwork. The open kitchen mixes ideas and influences for a lively menu that runs from asparagus and serrano ham salad with confit peppers and crowdie cheese to crispy pork belly with roasted langoustine tails, chicory tart, apple and hazelnut sauce. There are also sandwiches, pastas, risottos and steaks from the Josper grill, as well as desserts including lemon pannacotta with Prosecco jelly, strawberries and mint. The drinks list is equally eclectic, although Scotland has its say with some distinguished malt whiskies and bottles of Glasgow-brewed St Mungo beer.
