Square Meal Review of The Boat Inn ?

The Boat’s beer garden overlooks the river and the old railway bridge that crosses from Redbrook to Penallt. Deep in the Wye valley, it’s a great place to end a brisk hike through the surrounding woodlands, although walkers aren’t the only folk who love it here; cyclists, canoeists, and horse riders are regulars too, and it’s reliably popular with the locals (plus their dogs and kids). Real ales, cider and perry are given proper attention, with typical choices including top ales from the Wye Valley Brewery, Butcombe, Timothy Taylor and the Kingstone Brewery at Tintern, plus local apple brews from Gillow and Gwynt y Ddraig, too. If you’re feeling peckish, try the wholesome chicken curry, a grandly proportioned ploughman’s, homemade beef lasagne or the pub’s famous pan haggerty.
