Named after the iconic Vespa scooter, this hip Glasgow venue is spread over three floors with a full-time comedy club operating most nights in the basement. The remainder is a slick, retro café/bar with lots of 50s kitsch and vintage seating lifted from an old ice cream parlour in Newcastle. Food centres of stone-baked pizzas ‘by the metre’ (including a few global riffs), plus some spuntini nibbles, familiar pastas, burgers, salads and calorific desserts such as knickerbocker glory. Specially imported San Martino Prosecco is dispensed from a dedicated font at the centre of the bar and it also finds its way into a list of Italian-tipped cocktails; otherwise drink world beers – from BrewDog and Blue Moon to Moretti and Pacifico. Come the weekend, there’s lively music and dancing with sounds from old Italy and the swinging 60s.
