Not content with fronting Luke’s Dining Room in Berkshire and generally making the headlines wherever he goes, precocious Luke Thomas has struck yet another deal – this time with the owners of Cotswold hotspot The The Lygon Arms. The result is Luke’s Broadway – a modern bistro with its own entrance adjacent to the hotel itself, lots of heritage features (beamed ceilings, flagstone floors, leaded windows) and some nifty contemporary touches. To eat, visitors can expect keenly priced dishes with British and European overtones – from crayfish cocktail with gem lettuce, radish and green apple to cod with haricot beans, chorizo and heritage tomato or slow-cooked rump of lamb dressed with wild garlic, goats’ curd, Jersey royals and salsa verde. After that, how about a chocolate pot with cherries and ‘brownie bits’? Two dozen international wines complete the package.
