Square Meal Review of Gin 71 ?

Glasgow’s much-loved Cup Tea Lounge continues to run through the day serving cakes, teas and sweet delights in the breath-taking Victorian surrounds of De Quincey House, but come 6pm, the lights go down, the music goes up and the space morphs into Gin 71 – Glasgow’s first venue dedicated to the juniper-infused spirit in all its forms. No fewer than 71 different brands are on offer (hence the moniker), with artisans names such as Blackwoods and Adams Copper lining up alongside Scotland’s Caorunn, US-distilled Aviation and herby variants such as St George’s Botanivore. To go with your chosen sip, there are home-brewed tonics and all manner of mixers and garnishes from apple and cucumber to cinnamon sticks and lemongrass. Otherwise, enjoy your gin in a specially made cocktail such as Tuscan Twilight (Hendrick’s, fresh rosemary, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice and honey).
