Spread over seven acres with panoramic views of the beautiful Holme Valley, Holmfirth Vineyard has been producing wine since 2009 and has become a real attraction, with regular tours, tastings and guest appearances by big names such as Oz Clarke. The family-friendly Tasting Lounge restaurant makes an ideal pit stop if you fancy sipping and sampling the vineyard’s output with some enterprising food. British flavours shine through in starters of home-cured brisket with blue cheese beignets, roast hazelnuts and pickled onions, while mains might range from fillet of cod with goats’ cheese mash and black pudding bonbons to slow-roast shoulder of pork with mixed bean and chorizo cassoulet. Excellent beers from the Nook Brewhouse in Holmfirth are well worth sampling if wine isn’t your tipple. Breakfast, sandwiches and seasonal afternoon teas complete the package.
