Plateau

The owners of this cool café/restaurant have fused French cuisine with tapas & thrown in a few Asian twists to create a relaxed style of dining they call 'bistronomy'. Run by the team behind delightful Mange Tout on Trafalgar Street, Plateau’s name references its signature sharing platters laden with choice morsels such as homemade terrines, squid tempura or grilled steak skewers. Tapas along the lines of gnocchi with edamame beans or squid-ink risotto provide further opportunities for grazing, although those who prefer their own plate can order conventional mains such as confit duck leg with chorizo & lentil cassoulet. Tables are packed tight into the tiny, bare-brick dining room, but that simply adds to the communal atmosphere. The 100-bin wine list specialises in natural & organic tipples, with plenty by the glass or carafe.
