Square Meal Review of The Restaurant at Montpellier Chapter Hotel ?

Close to the boutiques and bars of the upmarket Montpellier district, this elegant hotel may occupy an imposing white Regency villa but step inside and it is thoroughly contemporary – from the high-tech check-in to the iPad wine list in the restaurant. On arrival, enjoy a drink in the light and airy library or afternoon tea in the restored conservatory – unless you’re tempted by a treatment in the basement spa or a meal in the ground-floor restaurant, where the menus are overseen by chef and best-selling food writer Simon Hopkinson. In keeping with his signature style, the food is seasonal and simple – potted shrimps with lettuce hearts and brown toast might be followed by whole baked trout with Chablis cream, while dessert could bring apple tarte Tatin with cinnamon ice cream.
