This long-running Mumbles eatery has plenty of loyal fans, not least the crowds of mature citizens who regularly flock here at lunchtimes – so book ahead to be sure of a table. Behind the cobalt-blue, flower-hung frontage is a modest, homely interior overseen by smart & friendly staff. The daily menu takes in lots of familiar & international themes, with typical choices including homemade chicken liver, brandy & tarragon pâté with plum compote & warm petit pain followed by prime fillet steak with honey, ginger, soy & spring onion jus or braised shank of Welsh lamb with a creamy leek, smoked bacon & tarragon sauce – plus generous helpings of vegetables, cooked just so. Traditional desserts such as apple crumble bring things to a comforting close.
