Restaurants in Northampton

Northampton may not be particularly renowned for its architecture, but the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built in 1100, is one of the largest and best-preserved round churches in England and the 13th-century Market Square is reputedly the largest fully enclosed open-air market in the country. The town is more famous for shoemaking, an association that goes back centuries, with high-end names such as Church’s, Barker, and Crockett and Jones, remaining; indeed, Church’s Factory Shop is well worth a visit. It is home, too, to Premiership rugby club Northampton Saints who play at Franklin’s Gardens in the St James area. Other plus points include the beautiful surrounding countryside and pretty villages, and there are some good restaurants in Northampton. The Seafood Café brings a splash of seaside chic to the landlocked town, Italian favourites are to be had at Marefair Roma, and Le Sacrebleu is good for classic French cooking.
