Restaurants in East India Dock and Millwall

The heritage of this part of the East End and the River Thames is brilliantly summed up at the Museum of London Docklands at West India Quay. A fascinating mix of docks, skyscrapers and Dickens, Docklands is now a residential as well as a financial centre and has finally come of age in the past couple of years as a foodie destination. There’s a good choice of restaurants in the East India Dock/Millwall area. Indeed, from the gilded dining room of Royal China's eastern outpost via the chic metropolitan modernity of Plateau to tapas getting inventively twisted at Iberica, it’s obvious Canary Wharf has more to offer than just finance. Dockmaster’s House is the pick when it comes to Indian restaurants, while Limehouse supplies river views from The Grapes (mentioned by Charles Dickens) or from the terrace of Gordon Ramsay’s boozer, The Narrow. At Blackwall, The Gun offers serious culinary intentions on a curve of the river overlooking the O2.
