Among the clutch of towns that make up the Cotswolds, Cirencester is something of a hidden gem. This traditional market town has not yet been discovered by the heaps of tourists visiting nearby Cheltenham, which means you can still make your way through the town and see all of the sights without having to worry about crowds too much.

Walk along the parade of independent shops and historic buildings or admire the pastel-coloured town houses dotted along the street. There is also a number of Indian restaurants to choose from, serving up the classic curries and naan breads that have been so wholeheartedly adopted by British people over the years.
