In an area not heavy on gastropubs, the Burlington makes a fair stab at the genre. Warm red decor, gold print wallpapers, pewter chandeliers, elegant mismatched seating – you get the picture. Well-kept ales include Brakspear Bitter, Adnams Broadside & London Pride while bottles stray as far afield as Baltika, Desperado & Tiger. There’s a sensibly priced & balanced wine list, while food, taken at the bar or in an agreeably PG Wodehouse-type dining room, is trad Brit with New Worldy options. Portions are large, so regulars risk a waistband adjustment at their Savile Row tailor.
