Review of The British Pullman: ? Write your review

Described by their originator George Pullman as ‘palaces on wheels’, the 11 individually designed carriages aboard the British Pullman more than live up to this description. Each one goes by a different name & is designed by the historical period it represents, with the decor reflecting this. The Minerva, for example, dates from the 1930s & has been beautifully restored with elaborate marquetry, shiny brass fittings, romantic lampshades & draped curtains. The dining experience is a contemporary mix of modern British & classic French styles: leek & potato soup with Welsh rarebit to start, followed by noisettes of salt marsh lamb with dauphinois potatoes, medley of vegetables & tomato & chilli jam, & an apple tart with clotted cream to finish. Service, in true old-fashioned style, is impeccable.
