Take plenty of time out if you’re planning a visit to Kazans. Start by dropping in for a drink in the bar & chill to the music before considering dinner – this is a laid-back, unhurried place where service can be slow & a bite to eat can take all evening. That said, diners don’t seem to mind because cheerful, upbeat staff make all the difference & the food is pretty good once it eventually arrives. Stick to the classics: big portions of mezze start things off with a bang (the fava bean purée, imam biyaldi & sucuk sausages are current favourites), before an array of kebabs, grills & stews, plus ‘excellent’ baklava to round things off. It’s warm-hearted & enjoyable, & the bill won’t break the bank.
