Via’s interior is a gothic fantasy gone wild. Gargoyles stare down from corners above leopard-print sofas; wrought-iron chairs share the space alongside heavily carved mirrors. Canary Wharf’s younger set (including ‘eligible bachelors aplenty’) seems to approve. By day, there’s free Wi-Fi & a wallet-friendly menu of old favourites (burgers, steaks, Caesar salad, chicken tikka masala, & ham, egg & chips). At night, attention shifts to cocktails (including pitchers of Long Island iced tea & Lynchburg lemonade) & the attractively priced, all-purpose wine list. This sizeable enterprise also boasts a pool table, a basement nightclub (the bohemian Dungeon), a first-floor private dining room & a large outdoor terrace (with views over the quayside) that gets packed in summer. One fan recommends paying special attention to the ‘fab’ loos (‘like being in the heart of Morocco’). On-the-ball staff are praised to the skies.
