Saran Rom

Saran Rom is generally more level-headed & grown-up than the OTT Blue Elephant, which is now under the same ownership. It’s a large, extravagantly decorated three-storey venue, perched just off Thames Walk in Imperial Wharf – & comes complete with a stunning river-front terrace. The location might be a ‘pain to reach’, but the food is worth it despite the hefty price tag. Old favourites from the Blue Elephant, such as tom yam koong soup & wild sea bass with fresh lime, join new creations including nua yang khao tod (grilled buffalo sirloin cooked to a traditional north-eastern Thai recipe). There’s a global choice of wines to match each dish, but be prepared to shell out once again. Those on slightly tighter budgets should opt for the set menus.
