Square Meal Review of The Montagu at the Hyatt Regency – The Churchill ?

A superb collection of contemporary art (courtesy of the Saatchi Gallery) is an eye-catching featuring of this capacious, high-ceilinged restaurant within the Hyatt Regency hotel. Luxurious British flavours loom large on the seasonal menu, which might offer the likes of gratinated Cornish scallops in the shell with asparagus shavings and hollandaise sauce ahead of Jimmy Butler’s free-range pork with wild garlic and potato dumplings, trompette mushrooms and port jus or even beer-battered haddock. Desserts such as rhubarb crumble stay with the theme, or you could round off with some sweet-toothed mini-bites (jam tartlets, Victoria sponge etc). For a closer look at the action, book the chef’s table for a six-course tasting menu. The restaurant’s all-day offer is tailor-made for hotel guests and the Marble Arch crowd, while whisky fans will find plenty to sample in the adjoining Churchill Bar.

    Wonderful relaxed lunch where the waiters were very attentive. Food and wine was delicious. Cannot fault it and will definitely go back again.

    Booked here to celebrate our 30th Wedding anniversary. The staff were friendly and very helpful with regards to the wine selection. Service was extremely efficient.
    The food overall was very good. To start we had Pigeon breast, bacon, baby gem lettuce, olive oil emulsion. Main course my husband ordered the rib eye beef which he found very tasty while I ordered the Dover sole, sautéed potatoes, lemon butter with brocoli. Suprisingly the pigeon was tough to cut but not to chew and was very nice, the dover sole I ordered was dissapointing, it was extremely salty and over seasoned. For desert we both had icecream which was tasty.
    We did mention to the waitress that the dover sole was salty and she said she would tell the chef, however we did not want to create any fuss on this special occasion and the rest of the meal was faultless. Make sure you taste the bread, it is the best I have tasted and crusty.
