A fixture of the City's sociable bar scene for more than 30 years, the Corney & Barrow chain has been refreshed and rebranded as C&B. Set in the shadow of St Paul's, the glamorous Paternoster Square outlet now boasts swanky new interiors, a dedicated ale room and a separate lounge for private events, although the place is still renowned for its power breakfasts, evening nibbles and affordable lunchtime sustenance – anything from slow-cooked gammon hash with a poached egg to warm smoked salmon salad or Norfolk pork belly with a potato cake. The trademark C&B wine list offers tipples for every occasion and budget, and there are plenty of creative cocktails too. In summer, the terrace will come into its own with fancy-dress Bond parties, sandcastle competitions, bucking broncos and other jolly japes.
