Square Meal review of Viet Hoa:
Kingsland Road’s original destination eatery is still going strong, still busy & still knocking out cheap Vietnamese street food & Chinese-influenced dishes in the no-frills canteen-like surrounds. Sadly, dishes range from the delicious to the very average – pho noodles soups tend to be a safe bet but a helping of bun xa (quick-fried vermicelli noodles with chicken) disappointed with lifeless coriander & almost undetectable lemongrass. Still, it’s a popular pit-stop both for local workers & bright young things stocking up on food as they flit between the area’s bars & clubs. Not the place for a romantic dinner, though.
